First Sunday in May = Start of Big Things

It's a beautiful Sunday afternoon in Chicago--one shockingly devoid of rain. The first Sunday in May always stirs great memories inside my head, as I know my birthday is around the corner, Saturday afternoon barbecues are on the horizon and long days at North Avenue Beach will soon be a staple on my personal planner.

Regarding my birthday, I've never been one to get down about getting older. I guess this year is different, however, as I've been feeling pretty unfulfilled lately. I've been happy doing my freelance proofreading gigs (though I wish I was booked more than once a week), and I know that I'll be teaching freshman English at some community college or even university in the fall, but I will always feel unfilfilled if my creative projects never come into fruition.

I'm hoping that the impending 27th birthday changes things. Clearly I am not getting any younger, so perhaps feeling like an old man will prompt me to take the initiative more with my fiction writing and screenwriting. One can only hope.
